Perch Shop and SCA regulations

Good afternoon,

We have been monitoring a post in the forum from a while back (here) that discusses the upcoming stricter 3D Secure requirements from the EU for payments. We've looked into contingency planning to work the new regulations and requirements from Stripe (and other payment providers) into Perch Shop but it would be great to find out if Perch are planning a point release to cover the new requirements?

The regulations and requirements seem a bit murky but from what we can tell, without support for the new payment processes, Perch Shop customers are going to start seeing a much higher rate of rejected transactions from 14th September once the new regulation come into force. Do you have plans to support Stripe's new SCA ready checkout process in Perch 3?

We'll be looking to communicate any potential costs to our customers sometime in July so an update would really be appreciated.

I've not had a moment to look at it yet (alas there is only one of me) but I doubtably will. We sell Perch licenses using Stripe and workshop licenses using Stripe in Perch Shop, so I'll need to figure it out at some point!

One issue is that the underlying library we use for this doesn't support it yet, and shows no signs of doing so.

Out of the supported gateways by Perch Shop, which ones do not require a driver update?

PayPal hosts the payment pages for PayPal Express so they may update the payment flow. The following quote is regarding PayPal Pro hosted, but I think this may be true for PayPal Express too:

If at least PayPal Express meets the SCA requirements, perhaps it can be used (for a temporary period at least) until Stripe/Braintree Omnipay drivers are updated? It's not ideal to have to make the change if your clients are already using something else, but at least they'd continue receiving payments.

As far as I'm aware, it's only Stripe that is asking for updates to support this.

All transactions that take part in the European economic area will be subject to the new SCA regulations. It will be up to the individual banks to decide whether the transaction meets the SCA standards and to what extent they need to be meet. (Only the CMA 9 banks will be required to enforce SCA).

Yes, but have you seen any other gateway asking for changes to support this? I think most handle it once they have the customer.

Ah yes, sorry I misinterpreted your question. As 3DS2 is new, it may just be a case of updating to the latest SDK's for them to be supported (Braintree only supports from v3), however I am unfamiliar with the payment flows used by providers other than stripe.

I just thought I'd check in on this. It looks like some progress is being made with Omnipay so I guess we hold on tight for a Perch update to add support to shop when this is stable: https://github.com/thephpleague/omnipay-stripe/pull/128

Does anyone know if Perch shop has been updated to incorporate the Stripe SCA integration yet? I've just updated an installation to Shop 1.2.6b but can't find a recent changelog to see what's in the update.
