I need to purchase a license key however I am not sure which version I am on currently.
How would I find this?

You can view the version number in Perch Admin -> Settings -> Diagnostics
It's also in the source code for the login page in the query string on the style sheet link.. like this:

Log into Perch and look at the diagnostics page under settings.
If you can't log in then I know (in version 3 at least) if you view source from the log-in page you can see the version number under under the style line of code e.g. /perch/core/assets/css/styles.css?v=3.1.2

It says i have 2.8.34 will i need to upgrade if i purchase a new license?

I'm not 100% sure on that; the new license will have a Perch 3 prefixed number. Perch 2 license numbers work with Perch 3 upgrades but I don't know if it's the same the other way round.
Best to contact Perch themselves about this.
