How often does your hosting have URL rewriting available?

What is the case for making Perch reliant on URL rewriting?

In recent years, I've never come across hosting that hasn't had it by default (or at least an option to enable it). That's definitely a great case for simplifying development.

I think this would be good. How do you see this working? Would Perch use routes like Runway or would you rely on users to configure this on their server? Depending on experience, rewrite rules in .htaccess, for example, can give people a few headaches so that may be an issue.

Cannot remember I ever had to enable that manually. It was always available by default with the hosting providers I worked with.

My Hosting companies have it available and on by default.
